What is a monthly statement fee?

A flat monthly charge for producing the statement that reports the fees you already paid. It appears whether you read the statement or not, and on many accounts whether you processed or not.

Who charges it and why

The processor adds it at the account level. Generating a statement is an automated byproduct of processing your transactions; the fee exists because it is easy to bury in a long fee table, not because the document costs meaningful money to produce.

What fair looks like

Fair looks like no line at all. Statements are part of running a processing account, the same way an invoice is part of any service. Payzium emails yours at no charge.

Can you get rid of it

Ask your processor to waive it; many will when a merchant pushes back, which tells you what the fee was for. If it cannot be waived, that is a signal worth weighing when your term is up.

See what this line is costing you

Upload a statement and Rate Check reads every line, this one included, against what the same profile costs on Payzium.
